More than One Chelator?
Provie’s Cardio Bright contains the following chelating agents:
- EDTA (Ethylene Diamine Tetra-Acetic Acid)- A chelating agent for metallic ions, abbreviated EDTA. EDTA is a strong complexing and chelating agent. It reacts with many metallic ions to form soluble chelates.
o Chemistry. Definition of Chelate: To combine (a metal ion) with a chemical compound to form a ring.
o Medicine. Definition of Chelate: To remove (a heavy metal, such as lead or mercury) from the bloodstream by means of a chelate, such as EDTA.
- Alpha Lipoic Acid - It is essential for aerobic life and is a common dietary supplement. Lipoic acid is found in a variety of foods, notably kidney, heart and liver meats as well as spinach, broccoli and potatoes. It is noted that: LA is found in a wide variety of foods from plant and animal sources and has the potential for use as a chelating agent in treatment of mercury intoxication. It is particularly suited to this purpose as it can penetrate both the blood-brain barrier and the cell membrane.
- L-Arginine - The L-form is one of the 20 most common natural amino acids. In mammals, arginine is classified as a semiessential or conditionally essential amino acid, depending on the developmental stage and health status of the individual. Infants are unable to meet their requirements and thus arginine is nutritionally essential for infants. Individuals who have poor nutrition or certain physical conditions may be advised to increase their intake of foods containing arginine. Arginine is found in a wide variety of foods, including: * Animal sources: dairy products (e.g. cottage cheese, ricotta, milk, yogurt, whey protein drinks), beef, pork (e.g. bacon, ham), poultry (e.g. chicken and turkey light meat), wild game (e.g. pheasant, quail), seafood (e.g. halibut, lobster, salmon, shrimp, snails, tuna in water) * Vegan sources: wheat germ and flour, buckwheat, granola, oatmeal, nuts (coconut, pecans, cashews, walnuts, almonds, Brazil nuts, hazel nuts, pine nuts, peanuts), seeds (pumpkin, sesame, sunflower), chick peas, cooked soybeans.
- L-lysine - This amino acid is an essential amino acid, which means that humans cannot synthesize it. Good sources of lysine are foods rich in protein including meat (specifically red meat, pork, and poultry), cheese (particularly Parmesan), certain fish (such as cod and sardines), and eggs. L-Lysine is a necessary building block for all protein in the body. L-Lysine plays a major role in calcium absorption; building muscle protein; recovering from surgery or sports injuries; and the body's production of hormones, enzymes, and antibodies.
- L-Phenylalanine - Breast milk from mammals is rich in phenylalanine. Phenylalanine is an essential amino acid, meaning that it is necessary for human health but is not produced by the body. As L-phenylalanine (LPA), it is one of the twenty common amino acids.
- L-Omithine - An amino acid, not a constituent of proteins, that is produced as an important intermediate substance in the urea cycle.
- N.Acetyl Cysteine - Heavy metals like lead, mercury, and arsenic are detoxified and removed from the body by N-Acetyl Cysteine . It also increases the excretion of zinc and other essential minerals when taken over an extended period. Acetylcysteine continues to be commonly used in individuals with renal impairment to prevent the precipitation of acute renal failure. There are claims that acetylcysteine taken together with vitamin C and B1 can be used to prevent and relieve symptoms of veisalgia (hangover following ethanol (alcohol) consumption). The claimed mechanism is through scavenging of acetaldehyde, a toxic intermediate in the metabolism of ethanol.
Provie’s Cardio Bright contains 51 ingredients. It is not only rich in Chelating agents but contains many anti-oxidants (See Anti-Oxidents – Free Radicals) essential to good health.
